These posts are intended to give readers a view into our thinking here at Tide Cycle Resources. We usually offer an analysis of economic news, market developments, or other topics that have caught our collective curiosity. This week we peel back a layer to share the discussion that precedes these posts.

The entire firm typically meets every Monday morning as a firm for about an hour. The meeting is informal but there is a formal agenda to ensure we cover all matters pertinent to our business. We always start by catching up on each other’s weekends – currently lots of mountain bike races for Jeff and the Portsmouth High School team, and lots of driving and hockey, soccer, and cross country for Kate’s kids. (And the past couple of weeks, celebration of Jeff’s wife Denise’s success as a new triathlete and regular fixture on the finishers’ podium!) We then cover administrative and operational tasks. Following last week’s meeting with our outsourced compliance partner, Fairview, we had several follow-ups pertaining to the SEC’s amended Regulation S-P, as well as our best execution meeting, and testing of our disaster recovery plan. Monday also offers an opportunity to check-in on upcoming projects which currently include a website refresh and scheduled appearance on the Family Office Exchange’s podcast. We’ll record an episode in early November on the evolution of the Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) and the larger concept of Virtual Family Offices. Next, we cover any outcomes and observations from our meetings with individuals across the investment landscape over the course of the prior week. A series of recent discussions has prompted a landscape analysis of indexing options for taxable clients, while inflation expectations and the costs and benefits of inflation protection continue to be active topics. We always close with a discussion of performance across client portfolios and asset classes, as well as any recent developments, and the opportunities and challenges presented to our current thinking and positioning. Our posts strive to be a deeper exploration of a single topic or a synthesis of the topics driving our Monday morning meeting.
